A long sweep of sand runs along the large bay of Platys Gialos, that suddenly appears from the road.
The beach is backed by tavernas, cafes, hotels, pottery workshops and small shops, creating the typical holiday atmosphere. The modern marina on one side of the bay adds to the animation of the place.
Here you can combine relax on the beach and evenings spent in cafes and tavernas by the sea.
On the small uninhabited islet of Kitriani, in front of Platys Gialos, there is a tiny, very ancient (11th century) church dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
The stretch of sea between Platys Gialos and Kitriani is popular with scuba divers for its abundance of fish, and often also attracts local fishing boats.
